Gary Neville and Carlos Tevez have escaped punishment at the hands of the Football Association after their much-publicised spat in the Manchester derby. Personally I don’t feel the severity of their respective comments and gestures were particularly outrageous and the spat adds a bit of colour to the game. The fact that the FA even felt moved to warn them about their future conduct strikes me as overly officious.
What do you think? Should the FA wade in to spats such as these? Or are football fans adult enough to take them in their stride?
Cadbury’s board approved a better offer from US giant Kraft following months of procrastination (BBC Story). Whilst good news for shareholders, is this good news for the British consumers and British manufacturing?
The real sadness is twofold - Britain loses another institution and this particular blogger worries that the taste of our chocolate may change, not for the better, as the US giant plays with the classics!
The big question is this - when Kraft or another US giant takes on this British gem, will that mark the end of the Dairy Milk, Flake, Crunchie, Whispa etc as we know them? Will US choc making techniques alter these delicious bars…?
The new year has seen the main political parties kick off their election campaigns with a flurry of policy and initiative announcements. With Darling’s new budget, it is rumoured that he will be extending the Stamp Duty “holiday” for £175,000 home purchases by another three months.
With three other stamp duty bands and the importance of getting the property market moving again should the Chancellor not be applying his stamp duty holiday across all bands. Alternatively he could reduce the other bands by 1-2% ensuring that the sales chain keeps moving at all levels.
Astonishing revelations have been released into the blogosphere by Guido Fawkes about a disgusting plan being hatched by a couple of sleazy creatures to discredit members of the opposition party.
Damian Mcbride and Derek Draper have been concocting a plan to create a series of smear stories about Conservative MP’s in an attempt to discredit them and harm reputations. What makes this so unpalatable is that, in some of the correspondence, it is implied that these are all just made up smear stories with no truth to back them up - pure fiction.
In the plots and plans, the duo even suggest that it would be ok to attack one MP’s wife and her mental health.
Labour party supporters and MP’s have rounded on these two individuals - too little, too late!
Earlier in the week, Innocent smoothies announced that they were selling between 10 and 20% of the company to Coca Cola.
Coke is seen by many as one of the baddies in the growing problem of obesity and unhealthy living so a relationship of this nature is not going to be an easy ride for Innocent, the champion of healthy consumption and attitudes. Innocent is a brand that, up to last week, was loved by many for its simple, natural and healthy products.
Innocent says that Coke is going to be a silent partner and that this strategic partnership will help enable the company to carry out its European expansion at a faster pace following a few years of cash drain as it tried to replicate its UK success across the rest of Europe. The partnership will give Innocent access to the Coke distribution channels across the rest of Europe.
Fans of the brand are worried that this might be the end of the cute little smoothie drink with comments across the blogoshere highlighting an upset bunch of “innocenti’s”! What do you think Innocent should do?
Gary Barlow has said that there is not going to be a Robbie Williams reunion recreating the original five members of Take That which will disappoint many fans!
